( Week 1 of Apr 2022 )
In the first book club on the podcast, Greg talks to Dr Natasha not about space (shock) but great sci-fi novels concerning alien intelligence and how biology shapes morality.

I'm not going to lie, when I read the brief on this I really though this was going to be another book review of the classics, Mote in Gods Eye, Asimov etc. (all of which are great reads, but over reviewed), really nice to see some new authors entered into the recommended field. Greg's recommended Children of Time before on the 'cast , and have finally bowed down to the 'zon and bought (though the twist of spiders being the protagonist has me questioning this - open mind, open book.)
Also nice to see Aus. authors being included by way of Greg Egan , will like to recommend Amanda Bridgeman (a Perth writer) for what's turning to be a great series in the Aurora books (I've just started reading, but really good so far.
And finally I'ld like to put a shout out to the global pandemic for bring me back into the fold of reading - had been 20 years since read seriously, now am voracious (albeit slow)...
As for if this is a segment to continue with, the SE2KB book club? For sure!

This was good - just need more time to read all the books.
The spider books might be missing some male behaviour - found this article after I listened to the episode. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2317295-watch-male-orb-weaving-spiders-catapult-off-females-to-escape-death/

There are always more books to read. As a practising male myself I too probably need to catapult myself off partners to escape death.
