According to Australian Geographic, all polar bears in the world may be descended from a single Irish grizzly bear who got busy getting busy 20,000 to 50,000 years ago:

I needed to tell you, because (a) this article taught me the word "pizzlies" which from now on I will use rudely, (b) it has the word Australian in it so you probably know the person who wrote it, and (c) slutty bear!
